The Theatre's Dream Team (Staff)

Cisely Martin-Breeden
Children's Performing Arts Academy Program
DIRECTOR

Cisely Martin-Breeden

A native of Newark, NJ, Cisely Martin-Breeden is a proud product of the Newark Public School District having attended Quitman Street Community School, St. Mary's School, Arts High School and Essex County College, receiving an Associate of Arts with a concentration in musical theatre under Professor Richard C. Alston. Cisely continued to study theater at Kean University, but subsequently graduated with a degree in social work while also obtaining an Associate in Theology at C.H. Mason Bible Institute. She spent seven years of her professional career working within the Newark Public School District as a Substance Awareness Coordinator, where she used educational theater to encourage students to resist gang involvement, drugs, and promiscuity and embrace healthy successful living. Cisely desires to use her gift of writing theatrical productions, poetry and music to inspire others and build a sense of morality and unity. Despite being faced with many adversities she created LeapNHigh Productions in 2011, which is a family-oriented theater group that focuses on spreading the message of hope through art. She is an active member of the Newark Arts Education Roundtable and excited about the collective success. Cisely has also contributed to youth groups both in communities and churches by writing inspiring skits and productions that provide guidance and direction for today's youth. Cisely enjoys the process of "helping a student find their grit and watching them grow into their own personal greatness." She is currently the Program Director at Newark Symphony Hall and a skilled playwright, instructor, song writer, singer and motivational speaker. Her joy is the art of bringing social work and theater together and creating relative entertainment. Cisely's motto - "ART IS HOPE!"
