Following the release of her latest piece, Footnotes for Kanye, poet Jasmine Mans made her Newark Symphony Hall debut as part of the Arts on Stage series on Friday, January 8th. The Newark Arts High School alumna performed to a sold out crowd with fellow poet and Evolve NJ curator Sean Battle opening for her.
The production featured a panel discussion centered around ‘Footnotes for Kanye’ where Mans addressed the circumstance she’s received. “I don’t know when it happened but I look at Kanye West as a race leader…,” later saying, “I don’t want people to think I am only a Hip-Hop poet but I felt a responsibility to share my piece.” For a full list of upcoming Jasmine Mans performances please visit her official website www.jasminemans.com.
